Frequently asked questions
What is PublicFile Pro?
PublicFile Pro is compliance software for FCC-licensed radio and TV stations. The public inspection file, political advertising filings, EEO documentation, issues & programs lists, EAS logging, equipment cybersecurity tracking, and FCC ETRS filings are all managed from a single account.
What is an FCC public inspection file?
It is the collection of records every FCC-licensed broadcast station must make available to the public, from political advertising and EEO reports to the station's license and operational records. Most of it now lives online, in the FCC's Online Public Inspection File (OPIF) system.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. Public File Basics, Public File Review, and Equipment Cybersecurity cost nothing, for any station. Political File, EEO Manager, Issues & Programs, EAS Logging, and ETRS come with a paid plan, and Station Map is offered as a standalone add-on.
What is FCC ETRS?
ETRS, the EAS Test Reporting System, is where stations report their participation in each Nationwide EAS Test. Reporting happens in three stages: Form One (identification, filed before the test), Form Two (day-of results), and Form Three (detailed follow-up). PublicFile Pro's ETRS module prepares, reviews, and batch-exports all three in the format the FCC's ETRS system expects.
Does PublicFile Pro upload filings to the FCC automatically?
Political File filings go directly to the FCC's Online Public Inspection File system. ETRS filings are prepared and exported in the FCC's batch format, ready for your station to submit through ETRS.
Who is PublicFile Pro for?
Any FCC-licensed radio or TV station. Single-station owner-operators rely on it, and so do groups managing compliance across multiple stations and markets.
How do I get started?
Sign up for a free account and add your station. Public File Basics, Public File Review, and Equipment Cybersecurity are available immediately, and paid modules can be added at any point.
